Who Am I?

Hello, I’m LaDawn Kaye, everyone’s favorite auntie! I’m the one you call when you have something that doesn’t feel quite right. You either don’t have the money or the time to get to a doctor, so you called me. Most of the time I can direct you to something in your kitchen to get you fixed right up or we may have to take a quick trip to the health food store. Whatever the case, if I can’t tell you off the top of my head, I know where to go to find the answer.

Hence the reason this blog exists. Not only did I want an online source to share this information with my friends and family, I also wanted to reach out to other like-minded souls that could turn me on to new cures that I may have missed while listening to Grandma’s sage wisdom.

I’m not just regurgitating folk wisdom I picked up in Grandma’s kitchen. While pregnant with my third son, my husband lost his job. I was already a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) so we carried supplemental Cobra insurance for the duration of the pregnancy and the following 6 weeks. After that, we just couldn’t afford it. For the next six years neither my husband nor I had health insurance. Out of necessity I was forced to seek out cures that could be purchased cheaply and were effective for common ailments like colds and sinus infections. The information I began to gather worked so well that even after I regained  health insurance I still looked to the kitchen pantry before looking to the medicine cabinet. Not only were the cures cheap and effective but in many instances they worked better than prescription and OTC medications, not to mention I didn’t have to worry about side effects and allergic reactions.

So welcome! Come in and browse around and feel free to leave comments if your Granny has some tried and true remedies that you don’t find listed here. We’re all about helping one another to live healthier, safer lives while still keeping up with our busy schedules. Lock me in to your favorites and please, don’t hesitate to share any of the posts through your favorite social media outlet.

To your health!
